Day 29 - Aloha.... We have arrived

As I type we are on the plane to Honolulu.  Arriving in Honolulu will be bitter sweet.

Bitter: Cause I know that this is the last leg of my vacay and it’s all going to come to an end soon.
Sweet: Cause I’m dead excited about it.

We were up at 6am, and left the hotel around 7.15 headed for the airport.  Check in was easy, security check was easy, getting to our terminal was easy, breakfast was quick and easy, boarding was easy. Quite frankly everything was easy.  We are flying Hawaiian Airlines and one thing we have noticed is, how relaxed, nice and laid back the cabin crew are as opposed to all those other uptight stuffy cabin crew on all the other airlines we’ve flown since being in the US.  The Hawaiian Airlines cabin crew already have us on Island time.  Cheers (not cheese) to our cabin crew.

The flight was almost 6 hours and the time actually went really quickly (just what you want on a flight), we kept ourselves busy one way or another and before we knew it, touchdown.

After what is possibly the longest walk at any airport in the world to collect our luggage, we are now at our hotel. We are at Outrigger, Wiakiki on the Beach, our room is on the 7th floor and we have an ocean front room, and boy what a view.

The ladies got Leid at the Honolulu Airport

We've gotten ourselves settled in our hotel and then gone out for a little wander to check out our immediate surrounds.  We had an 'early Duplex dinner' at Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville Restaurant (Peter, no Coconut Telegraph to be seen i'm afraid).

I feel I probably need to explain the 'early Duplex dinner'. Growing up Shelley and I used to live 5 doors down from each other, and the Duplex family used to have their dinner relatively early probably around 5.30pm.  As a kid I always had to stop playing and go home early for dinner.  To this day, if anyone in Shelley's family are having an early dinner for any reason, they say we're having a 'Duplex dinner' tonight.

Due to none of sleeping particularly well and just being on the go in general, we were absolutely exhausted, we were all tucked up in bed by 7.45pm and Chris was fast asleep by 7.46pm.  Ah how times have changed.
